Tour of Duty is a realistic team play mod for Valves awesome game Half-Life. The game is set at the height of the Vietnam war, between 1967 and 1973 allowing you to relive the conflict fighting either for the United States Marine Corps (USMC) or the Viet Cong (VC)/North Vietnamese Army (NVA).
PLEASE NOTE: Because Tour of Duty is pushing the Half-Life engine to it's limits, it will only run in OpenGL mode.
Tour of Duty is a team and class based multiplayer mod in which each class of soldier has it's own unique strengths and weaknesses. It is only by working as a team and combining the strengths of the various classes that a team will successfully complete their missions.
Tour of Duty has a wide variety of gameplay modes to keep the play fast and exciting. You will find control point capture, bombing, capture the flag, escape, deathmatch, with more planned in future releases. The first release includes eleven maps, most of which are based on actual battles that took place during the war.
The weapons attempt to model realistic rates of fire and recoil. They all also have variable accuracy based on numerous factors such as player health, speed, stamina, morale, rate of fire, etc. A weapon's accuracy is indicated with dynamically changing crosshairs.
This is just the beginning for this great new mod. In the coming months, the development team will be working hard to update the models, refine the maps and provide exciting new gameplay styles and features in their never ending effort to make this one of the most fun to play Half-Life mods around.
